Current position

Helen Thomas is a Senior Research Fellow at St Vincent’s Institute in Melbourne. She is head of the Immunology and Diabetes Unit. Her research is focused on the mechanisms of pancreatic beta cell death in diabetes, and in understanding the interaction between islets and immune cells in type 1 diabetes. She is also a senior scientist with the Tom Mandel Islet Transplant Program in Victoria.
