The coding gene sequences (CDSs) of the 16 species used in this study, including Homo sapiens, Mus musculus, Canis familiaris, Bos taurus, Ovis aries, Capra hircus, Pantholops hodgsonii, T. truncatus, Orcinus orca, Lipotes vexillifer, Balaenoptera acutorostrata, Pteropus alecto, Pteropus vampyrus, Myotis brandtii, Myotis davidii, and Myotis lucifugus were downloaded from the National Center for Biotechnology Information database (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nuccore). After selecting the longest CDS for each gene of each species, we used Inparanoid software (version 4.1) (44) with default parameters to identify one-to-one orthologs among these species and finally obtained 7206 one-to-one orthologous genes.
