ZrTe5 single crystals used in this work were grown out of Te-flux method. In a typical growth, Zr slug and Te shots in an atomic ratio of 1:49 were loaded into a 2-ml Canfield crucible set (36) and then sealed in a silica ampoule under vacuum. The sealed ampoule was heated to 1000°C and kept for 12 hours to homogenize the melt, furnace cooled to 650°C, and then cooled down to 460°C in 60 hours. ZrTe5 crystals were isolated from Te flux by centrifuging at 460°C. Typical ZrTe5 crystals are about 10 to 20 mm long with the other two dimensions in the range of 0.01 to 0.4 mm.
