Male BALB/c mice (eight weeks old, 20–22 g) were obtained from Animal Center of Army Medical University (Chongqing, China). The feeding conditions were as follows: ambient temperature 24 ± 1 °C, relative humidity 50 ± 5%, and light/dark cycle of 12/12 h. All the protocols were approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of the Army Medical University. The study design and all animal experimental procedures were performed in accordance with the Guide and Use of Laboratory Animals (Institute of Laboratory Animal Resources), and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) for Medical Research at Army Medical University. Mice were treated with disposable PHSA-ICG-TAT (10 mg/kg) or physiological saline solution through intraperitoneal injection. The tail vein blood was collected at 24 h after the injection of PHSA-ICG-TAT for the examination of blood biochemical parameters using a blood cell analyzer (Sysmex, Japan). The tissues were harvested at 24 h after the injection of PHSA-ICG-TAT to observe the hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining of pathological sections.
