PO pain were performed as described previously [11]. Briefly, rats were anesthetized and placed dorsally. A 1 cm incision was made in the plantar hind paw. The underlying muscle was raised and longitudinally incised, leaving the insertion and origin of the muscle intact. A 5-0 nylon suture was employed to close the skin. The control group was anesthetized but no incision was performed.
