Shiwei Wang is a Ph.D. candidate in Chemical Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he develops innovative tools for neuroscience and glycobiology under the joint mentorship of Professors Laura Kiessling and Ed Boyden. His research focuses on developing accessible super-resolution imaging toolkits and visualizing complex carbohydrates in the brain.

Shiwei holds a B.A. with Honors in Integrated Science and Chemistry from Northwestern University, where his undergraduate research in Professor Will Dichtel’s group explored supramolecular self-assembly of macrocycles. He later worked with Professor Yue Yang to study activity-dependent gene programs in the adult mouse cerebellum.

His contributions to science and academia have earned him multiple awards, including BroadIgnite Award, Weedon Alzheimer’s Graduate Fellowship, MIT Presidential Fellowship, Phi Beta Kappa honors, and the Best Poster Award at the Chicago Organic Symposium.
